Biography

Dr. Hilsmann completed her BSN through The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. She completed her MSN and FNP degrees through The University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX, USA, and her Doctor of Nursing (DNP) in Educational Leadership at American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University in Waterbury, CT, USA.

Dr. Norma Hilsmann has been in nursing for over 35 years. She is presently a lecturer for The University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) in beautiful BC, Canada. She practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a private medical practice in rural USA, worked in administration as a Nursing Coordinator in a rural hospital in BC, and co-founded Health Research Matters – a social media business that promotes research dissemination. Dr. Norma Hilsmann has an extensive teaching history, having taught LPNs, Diploma RNs, BSN, MSN, and NPs at colleges and universities in both the US and Canada over the last 25 years.

Clinical nursing background includes med/surg, palliative, hematology-oncology/bone marrow transplant, trauma/neuro/surgical ICU, Emergency, and CCU.

Administration background as a Nursing Coordinator.

Family Nurse Practitioner focused on rural practice in a private medical clinic in the USA.

Educator experience includes teaching nursing at colleges in the US and Canada: LPNs, Diploma RNs, ADNs, Bachelors and Masters Nurses (NPs). Specializes in Educational Leadership with Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
